Will be responsible for designing, detailing and implementing automated process and production equipment. This person will be responsible for working in cross-functional teams that develop and start up elecrtical, automation and control projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes all or some of the following / Other duties may be assigned:
Programming and design of PLC and HMI based control systems.
Parts specification and materials procurement.
Involved in on-site system start-ups and troubleshooting of existing systems.
Interaction with customers and clients to determine specifications required for system configurations.
Language:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical procedures and documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or clients.
Mathematical:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and circumference.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases.
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Education/ Experience:
Minimum Electronics or Electrical Associates Degree
Minimum of 5 years experience in automation programming and startup of PLC and HMI based automated systems.
Strong technical programming and design background in RSLogix 5000 and market leader HMI packages.
Comprehensive understanding of PID loops, valves, and motor control.
Comprehensive understanding of process instrumentation.
Strong abilities in startup and troubleshooting of PLC control systems and instrumentation loops. Markup control schematics and make recommendations for improvements.
Must be able to design and troubleshoot a broad range of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems using systemic, methodical, and practical approaches.
Strong onsite startup performance and abilities including multi discipline troubleshooting.
Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in both multi disciplined team environments and alone both in office and at client project sites.
Demonstrated background working in startup environments.
Gas, oil, or water related experience an asset.
Overtime and some weekend work will be required.
Travel is required on project startups.
Anticipated Working Conditions:
Primarily performing this job in a professional office environment involving computer oriented working conditions. Work is also performed in areas where there would be moving mechanical parts and possibly the risk of electrical shock.
