Director of Water/Wastewater

Job Summary:
This position will be viewed as the technical lead with recognized authority in the area of water and wastewater systems.  This position also serves as the Discipline Manager, managing the Water/Wastewater personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate also lead business development activities and, accordingly, must possess the ability to assess client needs/issues and strategize approaches and solutions.

Includes all or some of the following / Other duties may be assigned:
  • Oversee scheduling and technical production work for water/wastewater discipline.  Projects include public and private sewage collection/pumping/treatment plants, operations consulting, municipal consultation, rate studies and related assignments, public and private water source/distribution/treatment/storage facilities including modeling, planning, design, operations consulting and municipal consultation.  Projects may also include water supply and treatment associated with Marcellus Shale development.

  • Construction administration duties including public and private building, construction and contract preparation, construction administration and inspection oversight

  • Client manager, responsible for proposals, client strategy, client maintenance

  • Fiscal management of Water/Wastewater discipline including proposal development, project budgets, billings and collections

  • Project management including scheduling, cost control and quality control

  • Ability to work with numerous engineering disciplines required to complete projects

  • Demonstrated experience managing a staff of professionals

  • Technical competence associated with all facets of water and wastewater design. Experience with a variety of sewage treatment plant processes and projects preferred
Language:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients.
Mathematical:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry.
Reasoning:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret with some assistance an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Education/
Experience:
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, P.E. and a minimum of 10+ years experience in specific discipline requirements. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Anticipated Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in office environment. Some site visits possible.
