Job Summary:

Perform engineering work relating to the design, construction, and operation of water and wastewater projects.  Determine the scope of  work involved and plan, conduct, and supervise the engineering work of the project team.  Provide water and wastewater engineering expertise, which may involve the adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.  Provide engineering expertise to other individuals and work groups within the firm as requested.

  • Prepare reports and specifications, make meeting presentations as required, and obtain client and regulatory approvals as necessary.
  • Independently deciding on engineering/scientific problems and methods. 
  • Acting as a mentor for other staff members.
  • Actively participating or assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning.
  • Planning, developing coordinating and directing a large and important project or a number of small projects with many complex features.
  • Estimating manpower needs and scheduling and assigning work to meet completion date.
  • Performing complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, processes, products, equipment and methods.
  • Developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
  • Assessing the feasibility and soundness of proposed evaluation tests, products or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable. 
  • May perform and/or supervise inspection of water and wastewater work.
  • Experience a plus as it relates to Marcellus Shale water/wastewater issues. 

Job Requirements:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients.

Mathematical:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret with some assistance an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Four years experience or the equivalent thereof with familiarity in specific discipline requirements, e.g. water/wastewater design.

Anticipated Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in office environment. Some site visits possible.
