Job Summary:

Responsible for advanced research, design calculations and coordination of project specifications with support from a staff of technical personnel including other engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following - Other duties may be assigned:

  • Performs design, analysis, planning and modeling as required.
  • Performs research  as required, providing results of research to support the team as needed.
  • Performs impact analysis and computer modeling.
  • Collaborates and oversees design development and plans ensuing quality of design.
  • Provides reports of research and design as required.
  • Reviews results maintaining close contact with project manager or client, keeping them informed with issues or concerns or changes required in schedule or process.
  • Periodically performs project management responsibilities including project design reviews, client interaction, coordination of sub consultants, billings, etc.
Job Requirements:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or the general public. 

Mathematical:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry.

Reasoning:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university plus five years highway/civil/industrial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with design requirements for the required discipline.

Anticipated Working Conditions:

Combination of office and field (site). Noise level in office is generally moderate. Desk work with intensive use of computer and peripherals required. Noise level at project sites could be moderate to loud. Site visits could include climbing of steps or grades.
