Job Summary:

Applies standard cartographic principles in map creation, performs spatial analysis, geodatabase design, data analysis, and report generation.

  • Performs mapping and data collection a variety of project tasks.

  • Performs spatial analysis and data management within ArcGIS.

  • Prepares a wide variety of cartographic output for reports, exhibits, meetings, and management needs.

  • Manages geospatial data sets in accordance with Borton-Lawson geospatial and cartographic standards.

  • Researches available geographic data sets from federal, state, local, and private data sources.
Language:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively write reports and business correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients.
Mathematical:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry.

Reasoning:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret with some assistance an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education/
Experience:

Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, GIS, Planning, Soils or related field with at least one year related work experience. Working knowledge of ArcGIS and ArcInfo GIS software. Additional experience a plus in:  HTML, Internet, MS Office Suite, Relational Database Management skills, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, ArcObjects, MapObjects, and ArcGIS Server.

Anticipated Working Conditions :

Work is generally performed in a professional office environment with intensive use of computer and peripherals required.
