New Contract Award with Luzerne County
Borton-Lawson was awarded a contract with Luzerne County, PA to develop a Storm Water Management Plan for every watershed in the County over an 18 month timeframe. The work includes detailed local drainage studies for three watersheds in the County that have a recent history of severe flood events. One of these, the Nescopeck Creek Watershed, includes GIS mapping and detailed hydrologic modeling to develop management districts in the watershed. For the Hicks and Abrahams Creek watersheds, the work will include a detailed analysis of localized drainage problems and development of conceptual solutions. A model storm water ordinance will be proposed for all watersheds in the County so that new development incorporates Low Impact Development (LID) design, infiltration and water quality improvement techniques, and stream bank erosion controls. A series of workshops will be conducted to solicit public input . The final report will include action items and priorities for implementation of the Plan including the model ordinance, and provisions for review, revision, and updating of the Plan. Borton-Lawson was chosen due to our leadership role in statewide planning for storm water management, innovative solutions to and experience in solving local flooding problems, technological advances in hydrologic modeling and GIS, and depth of experience of the project team.
