Borton-Lawson is in Washington D.C. this week for the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Annual Convention and Legislative Summit.
As part of the convention, our team is among those meeting with legislators on the need for sustainable infrastructure funding.
Our team met with Congressman Bill Shuster and Congressman Lou Barletta. U.S. Rep. Shuster and U.S. Rep. Barletta both serve on the of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Rep. Shuster is the Chair of the Committee, and Rep. Barletta serves on three subcommittees – Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management; Highways and Transit; Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.
ACEC members are lobbying for legislation to fund airport projects and a bipartisan energy program, and thank lawmakers for voting for the FAST Act while reminding them of the continuing need for a long-term, sustainable funding mechanism to support surface transportation projects. Members are also raising concerns with lawmakers over proposed changes to overtime rules under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
