We are proud to announce The American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) named Borton-Lawson Engineering as the 2019 Building, Technology Systems winner for the completion of the Wilkes University School of Engineering Renovation project at the annual Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence gala. The ceremony was held last Thursday, February 28th, at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square.

Completed in May 2018, the renovation of the Stark Learning Center at Wilkes University was a project of our Life Cycle Solutions team. They took a building constructed between 1957 and 1974 and brought it into the 21st century. The project included the replacement of the exterior curtain wall, which allowed the building to operate much more efficiently. The addition of LED lighting and Variable Refrigerant Flow system for heating and cooling has paved the way for reduced energy use, easier building integration, localized control, and decreased maintenance costs.

The bulk of the renovation was located on the first floor and consisted of 15,850 square feet of space dedicated to new engineering flex labs, collaboration spaces, additive manufacturing lab, new handicapped-accessible lobbies and a redefined faculty office suite.  The work also included upgrades to the microfabrication suite and a multi-purpose wet lab.  New entrances were created to compliment the “campus gateway” terminating at the Stark Learning Center.

A big congratulations and thank you to our dedicated engineers who are always providing nothing but excellence to our clients!
