Power Delivery

Our team has a comprehensive understanding of site and regulatory challenges associated with electric utility production, substation, transmission and distribution projects. This includes immediate and long-term challenges that may affect the life cycle of a project. We map project goals alongside of regulatory requirements to provide a solution that minimizes cost and schedule, maximizes design and construction efficiencies and maintains commitment to environmental stewardship and ingenuity.

Integrating Engineering and Technology

Borton-Lawson combines engineering expertise with cutting-edge technology to transform how you experience your projects. Here is one of the many ways we have used technology to help client’s solve key issues.

Transmission Line 3D Scanning

A transmission line's poles and attachment points needed to be captured in great detail for a redesign project. The 11-mile line traversed through multiple hard-to-access areas, including railroad crossings and deep gorges.

Our team determined 3D laser scanning was the best tool to capture the data in accordance with the project’s accuracy and schedule requirements. Field work for all 11 miles of line was completed within three weeks and the long capture range of the scanner did not require access to the railroad tracks or gorges.

Borton-Lawson delivered the data back to the client in a format that was able to import directly into their transmission line design software. This significantly reduced the amount of rework needed to interpret the data.
