Project Experience

Lehigh County Bittner’s Corner Road Bridge

The Lehigh County Bittner’s Corner Road Bridge over the Jordan Creek is located in Lowhill Township. The original bridge was a two-span stone masonry arch bridge built in 1875. Due to the narrow width, the bridge only carried one-lane at a time of the two-way traffic. The stone arch bridge was replaced with a single span, precast concrete arch structure, which increased the hydraulic opening for Jordan Creek and kept the architectural arch feature of the original bridge. Since the intersection of Bittner’s Corner Road and Route 100 has substandard sight distance, a temporary bridge was used during construction to accommodate both pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
