Substation – 3D Scanning/As-Built Modeling

Transformer upgrades and expansions were required for a tightly constrained area with limited expansion possibilities and no existing conditions documentation. Clearances required from energized points did not allow critical measurements to be taken without a shutdown. Laser scanning and 3D modeling provided highly detailed and accurate existing conditions plan. The designer was able to ensure that new transformer fit within existing condition restraints and also maximized future expansion areas.
